hello everyone... My ujoint broke on my driver side axle and when it did it trashed my axle yokes... I have everything apart and I am trying to get the axle out of the differential but its stuck... my question is does the driver side axle have a internal c clip or is the axle just stuck really good...I would like to know before I start ripping everything else apart to go after a c clip... I hope yall can help me... thanks in advance...

Definitely has a C clip and you have to remove the 3rd member from the beam to get it out.

But there is only a clip on the passenger side, right?

I know the passenger side has a clip but its the driver side I'm trying to get out

ignore my original post...not sure now...I'll check an old axle out back if someone doesnt chime in

According to this it looks like its the passenger side that has the c-clip:

if there isn't a c clip then how the heck can I get this thing out....the outer axle isn't attached anymore to the inner because of the destruction so I can barely get my hand inside the hole to grab the axle and get leverage to pull it out..

this is what I'm dealing with

I pulled a axle shaft out of a D35 and it had a C clip on the DS.

Major PITA to pull in a JY setting

I would try a magnet on a stick.

I was wrong, it was PS.

I do not remember a clip on the DS putting my axle together and it bugged me so I searched on it as I know I posteda pic of that adventure. I remember doing the c clip eliminator for the PS.

That inner shaft should just slide out, nothing holds it in place. If it's stuck in there, I would almost bet something else is broken inside the differential or it's rusted into the spider gears. I would pull the 3rd member out and inspect everything inside it... fortunately on a D28, that's very easy, you can simply unbolt it from the axle beam... on the D35, the beam itself just about has to be removed from the vehicle before the 3rd member will come out.

would i have to pull the passenger side axle as well to pull the differential?

I'm so lost on this adventure

ok... so can I just undo the inner passenger side ujoint and drop it that way or do I have to take the wheel off and tear everything down like the driver side... I'm sorry for all the questions but this is the 1st time messing with this kinda work... also if its rusted to spider gear is there a way I can still pull out the axle without tearing it all down
