Lately I have noticed when slowing down and the tranny goes from 2nd into 1st I hear and feel a CLUNK! It doesn't do it everytime but MOST of the time. IS this a sign I have to have this tranny rebuilt?

How well does it upshift 1-2 with light throttle it should shift around 12 mph. It could be the modulator or vacuum going to it. How old is the oil and filter in the tranny, there is a couple band adjustments you can make before you decide to pull it out.

Mentioning Vacuum.. When I replaced the motor I noticed on the passenger side, one of the bolts that hold the tranny to the engine had a metal line attached from the tranny that was broken. I was thinking a vent.. Anyone know what that line is??

That is the shift modulator I was talking about. Get a length of vacuum tubing that goes from the modulator to manifold vacuum. The modulsator is about center of the tranny on the pssenger side it should look like this.

UGH!!! Its broke in a VERY hard to get place. Can I just patch it with a piece of rubber vacuum hose? or will the suction collapse it???

If the modulator hasnt been hooked up you should see a big difference in the way it shifts.

Naw as long as the tubing is not kinked it should be fine. Just replace the little piece of vacuum hose at the tranny also.

How long have you been running it that way?

About a total of 2 MAYBE 3 miles, but never over 50 MPH.

I would disconnect the vacuum tube from the tranny and see if it is easy to blow through, then connect it with new vacuum hose from the modulator to manifold vacuum and see how well it shifts. Both slow speed and then about 20 mph give it heavy throttle it should downshift also. It should shift into 3rd around 35mph with medium throttle?

I just noticed I`m gonna be driving down to Concan Texas for a family reunion hopefully it`s not too friggin hot. Just the other day we reached almost 80 degrees here in western WA.

Oh it will be hot!!! Heheheh. You will be going right past me on hiway90! If im on my back porch I might just see ya pass by! hehe.. Soon as it cool off a bit here im gunna try the tranny thing...
