86 2.9 ranger to 5.0 from an 88 truck wiring

I am getting ready to swap the 5.0 with a 4 speed manual transmissin into my ranger that has a 2.9 with an a4ld. Can anybody help me with the procedure got wiring the new engine up. I have the harness and computer still in the 150 truck. Should I get the manuals from both vehicles and match everything up from there? What is necessary and what isn't? I am hoping to find some clarity here. I have looked around a lot and think I need help from somebody who has experience with this?

You are correct. You will need the EVTM's from both vehicles and match them up. Another option is to use the stock ranger engine harness from the 2.9l and install it on the 5.0. You will need to add 2 injector pigtails to the harness, and use the 5.0 ecu. This works cause that year 5.0 used a batch fire system...
