i recently bought an 86 ford ranger w/ a 2.9 V6 it sat for a while
what is happening is when i cycle the key from lock to run the fuel pump dose not prime as it should iv tried to replace the fuel pump relay w/ no resoles i think it may be a fuse able link problem but i cant find it yet
if you have any help or advice let me know thanks

1) It should have an inertia switch; have you checked it?

2) If there is no constant power to the fuel pump relay (should be a yellow wire) then it would be a fusible link.

Late 80's fords had a real problem with the wires corroding out of the relay connectors. Check both because the eca relay turns on the fuel pump relay.
Check the wire going to the pumps for power. The pumps may be seized up from setting.

Don't guess. Find the voltage drop in the fuel pump circuit, and no matter what it is, you'll find it. If it doesn't happen to be one of those guesses, you'll get stuck otherwise.
