hi, I have a 86 ranger 2.3 5-spd 4wd f.i. my problem is that the truck starts fine & runs good till it runs for awhile then it will start sputtering & won't run. if I pump the heck out of the gas pedal sometimes it will pick up & go but most times it won't. try to restart it and mostly will not restart & stay running until it sits for awhile, like it has to cool down, but engine temp is fine. messed around all day today and found out that if I spray gas into the throttle body when it starts missing it will stay running. it has spark and it has gas up to the schrader valve on fuel rail. now would the computer be bad or the fuel pressure regulator? I changed the fuel reg once with a used one I had, did run better but still have problem. or could this be something else causing the problem:icon_confused:. any help would be great, thanks Brandon.

well I just put a new computer in thus thing today and no change still have same problem!! any ideas because I'm about ready to shoot it!!!!:annoyed:

check your fuel pump cuz i had the same problem but ihave a 97 2.3 5sp

I'd say fuel pump also...but when was the last time you changed filters (gas and air)?
