can any one tell me or post a pic of where the charcoal canister is on a 85 ford ranger? I bought a truck that was originally from AZ and am registering it in CA the only thing i need is the charcoal canister. I'm just not sure where its supposed to be mounted. I tried google but couldn't find anything. Thanks

It is the canteen looking thing with two plastic mushroom type things on top to the drivers side of the radiator on the radiator support.

This is as good of a pic as I have with mine, it is a 2.8 so unless Ford decided to do something cruel like they usually do I would think the others would be similar. There is a tin plate that screws to the radiator support that the canister mounts to so if you are missing that it would be hard to find the home for the canister.

The "overflow" tag is pointing at the canister.

I have an 85 with the 2.3 and it is the same. It has a small tube coming from the tank and a larger on going to the throttle body.

cool, thanks guys. I found the tube going to the carb but can't locate the one that goes to the tank does anyone have a picture of what that tube looks like to help me find it?

I'll go snap a pic.

There should be a steel tube with two lines welded together one goes thru a solenoid to the float bowl and the other goes thru a solenoid to the back of the EGR spacer and the third goes to the cannister. the solenoid for the float bowl is open when off and the one to the egr spacer is closed when off. You should feel a small amount of vacuum pressure at the carbon cannister when the engine is running. When the engine is off the fumes from the carb and fuel tank absorb into the charcoal and when running the fumes are then cycled through the manifold and burnt in the cylinders.
