so I'm new to this but I need some help,I got this truck and it had been sitting awhile so it was not getting fuel so changed the fuel pump, was running ok alittle rich and it was poping back up the carb not rea; bad but sad enough so I changed the diaphram and fuel filter, and it has gone down from thereafter that it really started loosing power and backfiring so I changed the icm, coil, cap, rotor and wires, still happening so I changed the carb and still happening it seems like what ever I do only makes it worse any help would keep me from pulling what little hair I have left would be great

Did you adjust the 2 screws on the base of the front of the carb? Sounds like you are throwing parts at the problem rather than diagnosing the cause. Your carb probably needs cleaned and adjusted. If its not adjusted right you will never get it to stop sputtering, and backfiring.

Is it still running on the computer and are the sensors plugged in. There are alot of things that may be happening so throwing parts at it can be part of the problem? Inspect the wires and connectors and make sure everything in connected. Clean the senser inside the air filter housing with rubbing alcohol (IAT). There is a vacuum line diagram on the radiator support make sure all the vacuum lines are connected. If you messed with the idle air needles preset them at 3 1/2 turns out from lightly seated. If you run it with a sensor disconnected you need to reset the computer by disconnecting the battery for at least 1/2 an hour. If your having computer issues and dont need to pass smog do not waste time on fixing it. Do the duraspark conversion, for around $300 you can bring that motor to life.
