Hey everyone. I have a 1985 Ford bronco 2 I bought off a guy a few years ago. Has the 2.8 (carbureted) with a manual transmission. Due to it being pretty skinny and tippy, I'm looking to make it wider and more powerful. I plan on putting a bigger engine in it (likely a 302) and I have an np435 transmission/transfer case and a set of axles off a 1976 Ford F-150 in my pasture. I plan on using these parts in the bronco but I was wondering if the wider axles would work. I can weld the mounts myself for it but due to the axles being 9" wider would this play out as a danger or a bad idea in any way? I can get/fabricate flares as well as roll bars, guards, etc but functionality-wise, will this be a good, safe truck to do some hard off-roading as well as some casual city driving? Also any tips or info would be greatly appreciated. I'm familiar with mechanics but I've never built a mud truck before. :D

hey just wanted to let you know you posted in the wrong location. your best bet would be general discussions.

is this a serious question?

hell yeah it will be better in every way except for squeezing down motorcycle trails.

Lots of people have done this type of mod. Search for "sas", ttb "d44, d50".

For sure it will be better. But be warned it can get expensive very fast when building trucks
And there are a$$ loads of info out there for doing it too
