I put some blue led`s in my instrument cluster makes a good look and the guages and speedo are easier to see. Nice to do while you have it out pretty much impossible to change them all when it is in at least put new bulbs in while it is out.

Ill check the igniition switch. about to go out and take the rest of the dash out, inspect all the wires and setup the heater controls since i have no a/c anymore. It does look like someone has been hackin the harness, there is speaker wire everywhere and lots of little electrical tape splices...yeah. I have two questions while im doin this. Can I change to an alternator with an internal regulator and get rid of the external box on the fenderwell? What would be the best instrument cluster to put in that will also include a tach?

Your gonna want to pull the wires off the battery before you go too far on the dash and wireing not sure if you can add a different guage cluster with a tach without changing the whole harness someone here shold know. A aftermarket addon would not be very hard tho. GL on the wires and be careful you dont want a wire fire then changing the harness will not be a option.

Definitely took the battery cable off haha..already fried the charge meter... So i took the dash the rest of the way out and pulled the harness out set it on the ground and started identifying all the wires..I got all the extra crap from the computer out. put the harness back in and wasnt happy with it. Took it back out and started removing all the wiring for the instrument cluster, got annoyed with everything being attached to ten other wires and decided to scrap everything except the wires that control the lights and turn signals and such, may redo all that too, not quite sure yet (pending research). Im going to install alternator with an internal regulator, push button start/ignition. and go ahead and fab up a new dash, it was on the wish list and might as well im already this far, and new gauges to replace the old cluster.
