I'm rebuilding the air conditioning system in my B2. I have purchased a new compressor (the old one went south), new accumulator and expansion device.

I need to replace the expansion tube but I'm having problems identifying it's location. Does any one have experience replacing this item and can tell me not only where it resides but also basics on replacing it.

I need this item removed to flush the system (evaporator, condenser and lines) then to replace it.

Thanks.... Dio

It is in the bottom evaporator line. There is a line that goes from the condenser to the evaporator. Disconnect that line at the evaporator. The orifice tube is right there. Grab it with a needle nose pliers and gently pull straight out. DO NOT twist it, it will break!!

if you cant get it out like me it was all slimed up and stuck. Take the upper evaporator line off and take your shop air and blow from the top it should pop right out. Make sure you have a rag at the bottom line ready to catch all the oils and the filter.

Thanks for the info. I thought it was in the top line into the evaporator where the accumulator resides. I'll check the bottom line and see if I can find a connection and let you know.

It will be on the opposite side of the evaporator from the accumulator.

Generally they are found in the single screw-fitting type connection in the system. Find the two hex fittings and you will find your orifice tube.

Thanks for the information. I did find the orifice tube exactly where you described it.
