Do you run a separate ground wire off of the switch?

Or does the switch closing complete a ground itself?

No, when the switch closes it completes the circuit. The switch is the ground.

So just splice the wires together coming off the switch back to the two wire plug ground wire (one that the ECU uses)? The other will be hot with key on at two wire plug.

How many wires go the case connector 2 or 3 ? 1985 should be a 2 wire.

I believe I screwed some thing up.

I got the switch installed and wired, but now when I drive the transmission, it won't shift out of 1st gear. It shifts into 1st and Reverse fine, just like normal.

I can get it to go into 2nd gear if I put the selector into "2". Otherwise it stays in 1st the entire time and will not upshift.

I confirmed my vacuum line is still hooked up. I did perform a test drive prior to putting in the pressure switch, so I know it shifted up through 3rd just fine prior to my install.

Here are my thoughts so far, when I was hunting a 12v source for the solenoid for the TCC, I was looking for a keyed switched source. I pull from the windshield wipers power at first and wired it in and tired to test the solenoid to see if I could here it click, as I discovered this is way to much amperage to put across the the solenoid as it sparked like crazy when I grounded the ground wire. This also tripped the breaker for the wipers.

I have since moved to another 12 v keyed source that went to the computer previous to be the positive side of the solenoid. I then ran two female connectors to the switch and wired it into one wire that goes to the two wire solenoid.

Could frying the solenoid prevent the trans from upshifting?

The only other thing I can think of is maybe I screwed something up drilling and tapping the hole for the pressure switch.

Anyone have any ideas???

After more reading, I'm thinking I screwed up my governor during drilling and taping the hole. It seems like it is not too bad to get to.

I might replace it and the solenoid.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Sounds like the governor is stuck from the debris from the drilling. The solenoid will not in anyway cause a no shift condition. The solenoid only controls TCC. I really don’t understand your wiring issues completely. I think your making the conversion harder than it really is.

I've been known from time to time to overthink things lol

Anyhow wiring wise, when I remove the computer I lost my 12 volt keyed source to the solenoid. I have since found another keyed source that went to the computer originally that I spliced to one side of the two wire solenoid. I then ran the other side of the two wire solenoid to the pressure switch and just hooked both of the Male terminals on the switch to one wire to be the ground for the solenoid. Is that the correct way?

Like you said, I don't think that has anything to do with my issue now that I've read up more.

I'm going to drop the transfer case and remove the governor and inspect it and clean it up. Then I'll drop the pan and do a fluid change. I hope that will fix my issues.

You should have 1 wire going to pressure switch not 2. Be careful tapping into wires for computer. Very easy to back feed or short out and destroy the computer.

Thank you for the diagram. I will correct my wiring and try again.

There is no more computer. It has been eliminated by going to a mechanical advance distributor and a non feedback carb.

Reason for the pressure switch.

My plan is to remove the transfer case and pull the governor for inspection.

I'll either clean it up and reinstall or replace it.

So I got chance to drive the B2 for a minute tonight.

It won't shift out of first, but it does shift into reverse and first gear fine.

I can start with gear selector in 1st and move it to 2nd and it will shift to 2nd, if I try to go to Drive or Overdrive it won't go any higher than 2nd.

Does this sound like a governor issue?

I think my plan is to pull the transfer case, then remove the governor maybe replace it, then drop the pan and change fluid and filter.

I can't wrap my brain around this.....

Still shifts into first and reverse no problem. Still will not upshift even if you run it to redline. Still can manually shift to second no problem.

I pulled the transfer case and inspected and clean governor. Seemed fine.

I got a modulator from Oriellys, but ended up being the wrong part. It was too long. I put the original one back on for now.

I will still probably replace the modulator for good measure, but what could it be causing my issue???

My leading theory is when I drilled and tapped hole, some shavings might have got lodge in valve body?? I'm thinking of dropping it and cleaning it.

Any ideas? Do I need to check pressures when it shifts into reverse so easily?
