It looks like the compressor runs off its own belt, can I just pull the belt and remove it? I couldn't find any write up for this.

If the compressor is on its own belt go ahead and remove it. If not, get a shorter belt and bypass it.

Just get a belt for a non-A/C truck.

If the Compressor has it's own belt then remove that belt and drive truck for a few days.
If all seems OK then remove compressor if you want to.

If AC hasn't been working for awhile then you won't notice any changes.
If it was working then removing it may cause windshield defrosting to take a bit longer, AC dries the air when using Defrost, so window fogging dissipates faster because of this drying.
It isn't required just a feature added with AC.

Okay but it doesn't seem to need a belt?

Then it would take the same belt as a non-A/C truck then wouldn't it? :icon_idea:

Sorry, many moons have passed since I took the compressor of my 2.8... :black_eye:

Yeah, take the belt off and run.

There are three separate belts. The one to the compressor doesn't run through anything else. I just wanted to make sure that removing it won't adversely affect anything.

Taking off the compressor belt will not affect anything else.

The compressor has its own belt, you can take the belt off without causing any issues. I did this with my 84 Ranger when the bearings in the AC clutch started howling, removed the belt and just didn't have AC...not that the AC worked anyhow, and to have it repaired cost more than the truck was worth LOL.
