I have a 84 bronco2 with the 2.8, that i am wanting to do a 96 explorer 4.0 swap in. I have the engine out of the Explorer already along with the engine harness and computer. I was supposed to be having a Ford master tech help me with the swap but he apparently no longer seems interested. I have been looking at some tech articles and found this one to be helpful http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/4L_Conversion2.shtml
i also have a 1986 and 1987 bronco2's for parts in the swap if needed. My current problem is stripping everything i need from the explorer, because my neighbors see it as a HUGE eyesore, which i dont blame them because it was rolled. But like i said i have the engine harness out already, anyone have a list or something of EVERYTHING that ill need? Considering the explorer has to go away and i won't be able to get any more parts off of it. Help is really appreciated :headbang:
and if this is the wrong place to put this let me know, thanks.

Everything under the hood, down to the inner fenders. The transmission/transfer case if you can use it. (Manual vs. Auto) The dash if you wanna go that route for gauges. And save the rear axle if it has a ratio you can use. Don't forget you'll need a good high pressure fuel pump somewhere.

The seats should be swap-able too..

I'm sure I left out something.

i decided that i am going to use my 87 b2 instead so that i dont have to swap fuel lines etc.

Trying to use the 96 wiring is going to make this a lot harder.

ok if i am swapping the 96 explorer, engine only, into the 87 B2, what will i be able to use from the 87? and what will i need from the 96? im getting different answers from different people and it is confusing the hell outta me.:dunno:
