Hey guys I just swapped my exaust manifold out for another spare I had laying around because I thought the original was leaking because of the strange noises it makes at high rpms. So the new manifold is not set up for an 02 sensor. What difference will it make not getting hooked up? Also, the EGR pipe is sealed off. It runs okay as far as I can tell, its just loud as hell until I can get the rest of the pipe added. There is no CAT either...

Hmm, what will it do not having a critical engine management in a place where it can get an accurate read?

Probably gonna run rich and foul plugs.

Nobody ever worked on a single car in front of me when I was growing up and I have to learn things through experience. It's really not necessary to pose my question back to me in a know-it-all wise fashion like that. I don't appreciate it and if it's such a task for you to respond to my questions with some manners, then you probably shouldn't respond at all. I'm sure I'll get by without your infinite four-cylinder wisdom. Peace.

Nobody worked on them in front of me either. Heck, my dad still thinks check engine lights are government voodoo and automatic transmissions are evil. I went and researched stuff for myself.

Now if you leave it plugged in just hanging there it will take a bad sample and make the engine run pig rich fouling plugs. You will get better results by unplugging the sensor, at least then the computer know something is wrong and it will go into a default mode.

Alrighty then...well, it's unplugged and the O2 is still on the original exhaust which I am considering putting back in there. Anyway, not trying to bust your balls here, but a little humility goes a long way in life. And thanks for the help bro. Peace.

I think most of my problems with interpersonal relationships are that people just don't know how to take me, and that problem gets magnitudes worse over the internet.

I really don't try to be a know it all dick, I just have an acerbic sense of humor.

Well, you'll grow up one day. :icon_cheers: Anyway, I removed the heat shield from the original exhaust manifold and it has a great big crack in it, so I was pretty happy to find out about that. I will take it to get it welded since I don't have a welder. Anyway, I asked about the 02 sensor just to see if it would be okay to drive and what to expect when I drive it around. It needs a new 02 sensor as I am sure the one on it is 28 yrs old. Never figured it was there till I took the exhaust off. Go figure.
