84 Ranger HELP!!!

I recently bought the flip kit from DJM to flip my rear axle. These instructions are very vague and I can't quite understand them. All I got in the kit was two metal brackets. Do I need any additional hardware (besides lowering shocks) to pull off this project??? HELP :shok:

What does he need a drill for? The flip bracket has the hole in it for centering bolt. He will need to flip the centering bolt in the springs though. It's pretty easy task, clamp (really clamp it good) the spring pack on either side of the centering bolt, then simply unbolt and reinstall with the head on the other side. When I did it on my springs I used those spring clamps they sell in the suspension section of your local store.
 
To drill it bigger so the centering bolts get in the holes.. I think drilling the brackets( I used a dremel when I did mine) are easier and faster than swapping the centering bolts around..
 
I didn't have to drill the bracket, or flip the pin in the center on mine....

I was guessing the hole was gonna need enlarging
 
Another question. Assuming the fact that I will have to weld to the rear end for the new spring brackets... Will I need to change out the fluid in my rear-end?
 
Weld? You won't have to weld anything. Why are you thinking that you'll have to weld something?


These brackets are held into the original spring perches by the u-bolts' tension.
 
When I was going over it with a buddy, he assumed the spring perches were welded on. I'm actually very relieved that I don't have to weld to it
 
These should only take about an hour to install unless you have some seriously seized up bolts. No welding needed and you should not need to drill anything. (unless your part was cut on DJM's CNC plasma when the plasma consumable nozzle started to go and was before they changed it. It can create an angled cut.)
 
Oh, and the only fluid you'll have to worry about is the brake fluid, but only if you disconnect the brake lines.

I was able to flip my axle without disconnecting the emergency brake cables and hydraulic brake lines because my spring brackets were bolted in place (not riveted) and so that allowed me to just drop each spring, put the axle on top, then bolt the spring brackets back in place.

So, just bleed your brakes really good after you flip the axle. Most vehicles deserve a brake bleeding when doing lots of work or maintenance, anyway.
