I'd got my truck registered in amador country under my fathers address. The only time you have to smog your truck there is if it changes ownerships. UNLESS its a gift from a relative. No smog on my 99 and I live in California.

Yeah, same with my buddy's f150, his dad lives in imperial valley. But I live in fresno county so it's one of the toughest regulated counties in California

Yeah smog in California straight up blows. If we didn't have to smog here I think all of us would have donesome crazy v8 swap by now lol

Hell yeah, iv had a carb'd 5.0 HO in the works for a few months now, looks like that swap might have just gotten a whole lot easier since I can ditch the smog shit now!

My grandpa has about every v8 Ford from a 289 to a 460 sitting in the shop but because of smog I can't use any of them. If I had a way to get around it and keep the body on it I would do it. But it sounds like you got your work cut out for you.

I had a great time reading through this thread. Looks like you had a lot of fun working on your truck.

Question: If you transfer the chevy cab to your truck, what happens to the VIN? Would you keep your old Ranger VIN? Wouldn't that still identify it as a Ranger for registration, therefore still requiring smog? Or will you be transferring the Chevy's VIN over to your truck?

Isn't the vin on the chevy cab already? It usually is.

so i found a 50s willys jeep pick up cab and front clip for 200 bucks and im gonna go pick it up this week, i decided id rather have that than the chevy (CHEVY SUUUUCCKKkKSSS!!!) idk exactly what year it is but it has the split window so its 50s...
