84 b2

Any Ford 2bbl from like the 60's and 70's will be either an Autolite 2100 or a Motorcraft 2150.

It must be a 1.08 or smaller venturi size anything larger will never dial in correct!

So my junk yard pulls out all of their parts and shelves them so how do i identify the carb just by looking at the carb itself? what does the 2bbl refer to? How does one tell venturi size?

what does the 2bbl refer to?

BBL is the crappy abbreviation that the automotive world came up with for "barrel".

Thus you need a two barrel carb, one that has the throat split into 2 sections while you look down it.

Here's some info that may help.

These following numbers are for AUTOLITE/MOTORCRAFT 2100 Series Carburetors. This number can be found on the left side of the float bowl, right behind the accelerator pump rod, inside of a circle. The number(s) on the left corresponds with the CFM rating(s) on the right. The first numbers are the Venturi Size, the second is the corresponding CFM.

These numbers are for 2V carburetors only (2100/2150).

Number = CFM

.98 = 190
1.01 = 240
1.02 = 245
1.08 = 287
1.14 = 300
1.21 = 351
1.23 = 356
1.33 = 424

These numbers are for 4V carburetors only (4100)

Number = CFM

1.08= 480cfm
1.12= 600cfm
1.19= 670cfm.

thanks a lot definitely printing that page :D

No prob. By the way, you can use a carb larger than 1.08 safely... My buddy has the 1.21 (351cfm) version installed on a freaking Toyota 20R 4 cylinder and it works great. In fact some guys even run Weber 38's on their Toyotas... and that's a 390cfm carb.

It doesn't convert exactly to automotive terms, because BBL is for a barrel of something, liquid or solids. What makes more sense is 2V, where the V is venturi, which is the proper name of that part of a carburetor.

I don't care who came up with the abbreviation, it's still retarded. An abbreviation should mainly be the removal of unneeded letters to preserve the same base phonetic. There are not two Bs in barrel.

You have to be open in your understanding and realize our English language has many origins and many words are derived from different backgrounds. I wasn't an English major for sure, but for as many years of schooling I did take ( 18 ) I know English is a tough language to make total sense of :)

ok guys still got the same prob with my tranny when im in fourth gear my truck bogs down and doesnt wanna run right untill i shift to third and now it wont even takes hills in third like it use to. im getting really tired of it. plus if i let of the gas slowly or press slowly in any gear it vibrates at about a 1/8th or 1/4 throttle but anywhere before or passed that point it doesnt vibrate could it be that my tranny is loose? or could it me my driveshaft?
