84 2.8L C3 auto to manual

What manual transmissions will fit a 1984 2.8L ranger? I got one from an 87 ranger but the bolt holes on the clutch housing don't match the block. My 84 has a C3 automatic and the 5 speed I got is a E77A7003AFA which is supposed to fit all engines in 87. Does and 83-84 have a different block than an 87?
