84 2.3 timing mark question. HELP!

Im trying to get the timing reset but i cant seem to get it to start where should the marks be facing I dont think they should be facing each other the gears arnt over eachother the crank gear is off to the left.

there should be a mark on the harmonic balancer, and a few marks on the timing belt cover, line the mark on the balancer with the TC mark. and now for the cam shaft gear, youll see the tooth, and just below the gear should be a plastic piece, with a mark on that a well. line the tooth on the camshaft gear with the mark on that plastic piece. i hope this helps, cause this is how it was for my '92.
