I have looked through some pages and gave up, decided to start a thread instead.

Needing information about seat swapping in regular cab 83 ranger, had bench seat, wanting to put in buckets, have a set of 2nd gen seats that look good. problem is the tracks and rails are 100% different.

What have you guys used to build in the rails to fit? any pics from gen 1 swaps?

thanks

Kinda a shot in the dark, but what year second gen?

Hi, I am pretty sure the ranger i took the seats out of were a 90 extra cab. The fronts of the rails sorta seem to line up with the floor pans, the side rails are too high for the tracks to be properly fitted.

thanks

I know it's not what you want to hear, but your best bet is to find a set of bucket brackets from a first gen regular cab. They can be from buckets or a split bench. The seats you have will bolt onto those brackets.

I know from a 84 to 86 bench to 60/40's they are close. I took the 60/40's out of a 86 and put them in my 84. I did have to drill the holes for the center bolts and a little adjusting to make them fit (they are close). Like has been said, find a Gen I or Gen II and take the rails (I dont know how common the 60/40's were in the Gen I's).

I can't get the image in my head of you're describing. Can you take a picture or 2?

Oh, I just noticed you said the new seats came from an extended cab and you're trying to fit them into a regular cab. That's likely the problem. The floorpan *should* be the same shape from 83 - 92.

I was able to get this to work today, after pulling the seats off the rails. i cut a small section off the base of the rails to make the floor pan fit the dropped section of the rails. pics will show what i did. 2nd gen into 83 reg cab. seats will be club cab early 90's
