im looking at buy a 83 ranger, it will get a 2.3 efi turbo swap.
it has manual brakes, i want assisted ones.

what are my options on booster and m/c's, any oem/stock upgrades, what years came with what.

bump for a list of sizes of boosters and m/c offer on rangers from 83-present and which is a direct bolt in for a 83?

Grab a pedal assembly from a 83-88 truck with power brakes, grab a dual diaphragm booster and M/C from an 89-92 truck. Remove your M/C and pedal assembly, toss in garbage, Pull two bolts out that will be right below M/C in firewall as well as the cover plate that's there. Install booster, and power brake pedal assembly. Install M/C, bleed brakes.

so the 89-92 booster is bigger/ more assisted than the 83-88?

i will need a pedal cage from a power brake truck, my stock manual brake pedal cage will not work with the power booster?

hey rab where are you located i have an 83 with power and i need to go manual..maybe a trade?

would you be interested in selling your manual pedal assembly?

Yes, they are different. The pin that the rod that connects to the manual pedal is located about 1 - 1 1/2 inches higher up the pedal than power.

thanks

will a pedal cage and booster out of a 90 4wd work for my 2wd 83?

The booster will work, I'm running a 91 booster in my 87

The pedals themselves are slightly different

The pedal cage from n '83-88 is completely different from that used on a 1991-94

Rab, just trade Flit-e pedals and ask (or pay) him to mail you his booster, too.

You won't need a new master cylinder, unless yours leaks bad.

Hell, you won't even need to bleed your brakes once you add the booster and change pedals.

o.k. so...
83-88 power brake pedal cage is different than the 83-88 manual brake pedal cage.
and the 90-93 cage power or manual are different than any 83-88 cage.

my truck is a 83 with manual brakes, a 4 speed with 2.0 carbed motor, so to go to power brakes on my 83 i will need a 83-88 power brake pedal cage.
