Hey there, I'm about to purchase a 83' Ranger 4x4 '4 Speed '2.3L setup, and I was wondering if the 1 Barrel carbs that came stock on these engines were reliable and easy to work on. I've never messed with a carb before, not on motorcycles or anything.

Just wanted to know if they're a pain in the ass or they were simple to work on.

Second question would be if I could install a 2 Barrel on it from a Mustang ll/Pinto or a 2 Barrel Holley Sniper EFI.

The 1BBLs are pretty simple. Basically an oversized lawn mower carb. Im not a expert on the 2.3 but i think they ran the same little carter the 300 used (only jetted down).

Im sure there are 2bbl intake options which youll need if you go with a 2bbl. Be careful not to "over carburate", as in sticking some big honkin 2bbl on an engine that could never use that much fuel.
