Are there any other water pumps that will work on an '83 2.3, that don't have such a long shaft and pulleys? I don't have room to run the original fan between the motor and radiator, so I've been running a pusher electric, but would like to run a puller on the inside. The only belt I'm running is the serpentine, so I don't need the extra pulleys sticking out, and would like to find a shorter pump with just the single serpentine pulley on it. Does anyone know if one exists?

As far as I can remember, there is one basic water pump that was used from '74-'94. The basic cast iron housing didn't change but the shaft pilot did, a few times. In '95 they changed to a shorter pump using an aluminium casting. I'll be up in the shop tomorrow, Sunday, and can check the length and any possible fitment issues then.

did you find a shorter pump? I have a similar problem - i need an inch or so.
