I'm working on this for a friend and did a quick search and the only fix I found was to "adjust the shift pins." What is that?

The truck is stuck in second gear. I bled the clutch and it still wont' come out. The odd thing is that even though it's stuck in gear I can take the shifter and do a full sweep side to side, as though it's in neutral. Any ideas?

Probably means it has the Mitsubishi FM transmission. Every one of those that I've seen the shifter flops around like a limp noodle. But it will help to know exactly what transmission it has. The tech section here has info for identifying Ranger transmissions.

As to why it's stuck in gear. If you can't get it out of second with the engine shut off, then the problem has nothing to do with the clutch. Chances are there is internal damage. Could be either a broken/bent shift fork, a jammed synchro hub, the shifter itself could be jammed on the selector forks, any number of things.

Pull the carpet back and remove the shift boot. The knobs are kinda glued on but should come off with some twisting and pulling, then you can remove the top plate or the shifter plate and see some of what's going on inside.
