Hello, all. I'm still a newbie, and have searched and searched forums for my turbo swap, but still can't find specific info about rear end conversions. I have an 84 ranger and an 87 t-coupe donor car. Would it be easier to keep the stock ranger rear end as opposed to installing the four link rear end from the t-coupe?
I'd rather have the 8.8 but money is an issue and I'd like to keep my 5 lug as well.
Thanks for the help.

its WAY easier to stick with the leaves instead of converting to a 4-link.

if you want an 8.8 rear, you have several, much easier options. you can get a 28 spline 8.8 out of a newer ranger, which is a direct bolt in. or you can get an even stronger 31 spline 8.8 out of an explorer. the latter requires you to flip the spring purches over.

both axles are 4.5x5" lug pattern.

Thanks again for the advice! Now to find 8.8 explorer with trac-loc and disc brakes.

I appreciate the offer, but I have a friend that has offered to trade his for mine.

BTW, the explorer brakes are actually superior to the turbocoupe discs even though they use solid rotors.

The Explorer system utilizes a seperate drum style parking brake
inside the "hat" of the rotor instead of a cable actuation built into
the caliper.

BTW, this is a "axle" topic and it is preferable to keep axle questions in the axle forum.

Brake questions in the brake forum, etc....

IF the forced induction or 4.0 or any other group guys discuss ALL topics in a specific (inappropriate) forum there would be a tendency for the forums to become "clique-ish" and preventing that from happening is a major goal of forum management and thus an overriding priority of my job.

it also results in a scattering of knowledge about specific subjects outside of areas where the information would be expected to be found....

all that is simply the long form of "this subject doesn't
belong here COMMA so I'm gonna move it"

It was simply time for me to give the long version of the explanation of WHY I'm moving a topic.

Yessir. Isn't this the "non-ranger axles" forum though? If so, my question was about a non ranger axle.
