I was shopping around to get some quotes on new gears and an install and one of them told me that if i had a (3.73) ratio that i would have to get a new carrier to swap to (4.10 or 4.56) is this true?

I have a ford 8.8 out of a 91 Explorer with 3.73's and LS.

yeah i probably wouldnt take it there since an 8.8 is the same for all gears

yep. all ranger axles only use 1 carrier for all gear sizes (different carriers for the different types of axles, of coarse).
