Why is it a bad idea to use gears specked for a 8.8 solid rear in an 8.8 IFS?

Are they the same or what reverse cut?

First time I've regeared a front diff, so I am a little turned around.

Exactly - they'd need to be reverse cut.

Catch me up - what application was an 8.8 used up front? I never knew that.

1997+ f150s and expeditions.

What dirtman said.

Friend has a 2000 F150 with an 8.8 IFS and a 9.75 solid rear axle.

I think some of the small stuff interchanges, generally if they say it is different it is different.

Just install normal 8.8 gears and then turn the whole thing upside down. :icon_idea:
