Ok So I just bought a 2004 ranger 4x4 4.0. the truck was in a roll over and the prevouis owner beleives that the axle is bent. It appears that the housing is straight but the wheel dose wobble. So now to the question Can I take the axle out of my 7.5 from a 01 2wd and slide into the diff. of the 8.8 as long as they are both 28 spline. I looked in the tech library and it appears to be true. But I just want to ask before I really f-myself. what are the chances that the new truck is a ls diff. I would look but the truck is at my dads shop/carport. (I hate my HOA)
Thanks guys

I'm almost positive they use the same axles, as long as they're the same width I don't see a problem with it.

i do believe the axle shafts are the same.. my buddy had a 7.5 shaft an when we had my 8.8 apart the shafts looked IDENTICAL so i dont see a problem with them interchanging as long as the splines an every thing is the same.

Yep, as long as you're on the same side of the year break with both axles ('92down/'93up) the shafts will swap over no problem.
