I know it's a Jeep question......:shok:

Anyway, I NEED to know if the front & rear D44'S from a '78 j10 jeep truck will work on an '85 cj7. Please, any info on this would be very helpful, it is my brothers CJ, we have an opportunity to grab a matching pair. I know they will be significantly wider but that is not an issue, WE NEED TO GET IT GOING!!!!

Any and all info will be greatly appreciated........:icon_thumby:

I'd buy them regardless. If you decide that they won't work hen you can sell them as a matching pair and get your money back or even make some.
My first question is.....the 85 CJ, is that still a passenger side drop? What is the J10 pasenger drop too? The most that you may have to do is weld on some new spring pads to the axles. Maybe a u-joint change.

the j10 is full width, it wont bolt right in, u need to get some perches for ur axles and go from there, but ur also gonna have to tackle the steering in the front, do not forget, and that will probably cost as much as the axles lol

Explorin....Going to look at 'em either tomorrow or Saturday....yes, the 85 is still offset to the passenger side, the 78 j10 is also..:yahoo:

:icon_welder:...Moving the perches & the shock mounts is no biggie & I know we can resolve any u joint issue!

mhughes....I'm aware they are fullsize but never even thought about the steering setup....any ideas or is it just figure it out as you go? I'm going to research to find out how much wider they actually are, I'm wondering how wide would be too wide under a cj.......:dntknw:
