I got a customers car on friday night and the guy said he wanted the exhaust done on his '71 Mustang Mach1. He drove it over open header.
Here is the car (sorry about the bad picture)

i made the hole set of intermediate pipes, including a h-pipe.

3" collectors, 3" cut-outs, 3" intermediate pipes into flowmaster 40 series. then used flowmaster 2.5" tailpipes.

Sounds sweet and looked awesome. probably one of the nicest complete exhaust ive done yet. I have more pics of it on the camera at the shop, so i will try to upload more later.

Have you ever installed an "X" pipe instead of an "H" pipe? I had an aftermarket "X" pipe on a `94 Mustang GT and it sounded pretty good.:D

Nice job man! And, sweet car that guy's got.

Looks really good, nice work. But I have a question, why bottle neck the exhaust system by stepping down to the 2.5 inch mufflers? correct me if I'm wrong, but from my experience laminar>turbulent flow.

you can do the exhaust on my 72 anytime!!!

Want to build me something for the Ranger?

My 69 mach 1's H pipe is...somewhere in the rafters...in the garage...or something. That's pretty awesome. What brand of welder do you use?

Speaking of which, I got tons of pics to add to my resto thread.

Ive never installed a X-pipe and this was the first H-pipe i ever made from scratch. I'll probably install a summit X-pipe on the 4.6 ranger when it comes time to do the exhaust.

I personally dont think the even needed 3 inch exhaust. but the guy bought 3 inch cut-outs. I needed match the pipes i made to the flowmaster tailpipes he bought.

I love doing custom exhausts. if i could i would quit my job and do them everyday. but alas i only made a couple hundred dollars off this job.

OK. I finally got around to getting the pics off the camera and realized i dont have any pics of the car done... but i do have some of the car before i stared on it.

351 Windsor. Supposedly a 500HP motor built by a hillbilly hackjob engine builder.

and the pipes i made.

Looks good. I was never a huge fan of the 71/72 sport body though. I don't like the rear end.
