I am looking to do a v-8 swap and I want to put an explorer 8.8 in my truck by just mounting it like as the expy but I have a couple questions.
1. I have a flip kit on the 7.5 right now and I like the ride height if I use the expy 8.8 will it change the ride height?

2. can I use the sway bar off of the expy (thinking it might help cornering)?

3.I found a 95 limited with a 3.73 posi and disc brakes and I wouldn't mind using the discs so can I use them and what master cylinder prop. valve and such would I need with my manual brakes? If I can't use them what drums will I need? will my 7.5 brakes work even though I would like bigger ones?
Thanks
Duane

The Explorer axle has bigger axle tubes, so there's some chance it might lower your truck maybe ¼-½ inch or so from where you are now with your flip kit. Also, make sure your pinion angle is correct afterward (wedge-shaped axle shims can be purchased to adjust it if needed).

As for the disc brakes... I swapped a '99 Explorer axle into my BII and it works fine with the stock master cyl. I suspect you'd be fine as well if your truck has the factory rear ABS.

thanks for the info 4x4junkie. but I don't have abs.
my trucks only option was rubber tires over plastic ones
but it is light weight making it perfect for a v-8 swap

In that case the most you should need would be the master cyl.

Or you can get a '91-'94 drum brake Explorer axle, which should hook right up.
