im swapping the 7.5 in my 96 2wd ranger to a ford 8.8 from a 2000edge II just wondering what kinda problems im going to run into...
would i have to swap my driveshaft? or would i be able to run the same driveshaft?

looks like it should be a pretty simple swap
the alxes mint and im getting it for free so why not upgrade. also, just wondering what i should look into for a posi/limited sliip ( or mabey even locker)

thanks

I would looke at hte mounting points of the shocks and such, but I doubt it will be too much trouble, your driveshaft should bolt right up.

yep looks like everything should line up pretty good, havent taken the other alxe out yet, but everything seems like its ganna be close.

It's a straight up swap. The only concern would be the rear ujoint flange. It may or may not work on the 8.8 as it's too small....but I didn't have that issue swapping my brothers '01 7.5 to an '07 8.8. You may or may not need to swap the flanges on the driveshaft. While the shaft is out, I would consider putting in new ujoints.

You'll need to mess with the ebrake cable which may include tearing apart the drums if you plan on using the 10" drums.

What's a 2000 edge II?

The axle flanges should be the same size (that's a year thing, '90 I think). Should bolt right in.

Hopefully you have more fun taking off the drums than I did. Shoes and pads were welded straight to the drums, metaphorically. What a bitch that was... :bawling:
