Pretty much what the title said. I have a 2000 Ford ranger, regular cab, 3.0l auto, regular bed, 2WD, 7.5" rear end, and before removing the rear wheel I ordered shoes for 9" brakes because I didn't think it could be anything else. This is a basic model base truck. Has anyone else had 10" brakes on a non 4.0l 4WD truck that wasn't an extended cab?

All the trucks gvwr if 4800 or more got the ten inch rear drums on a 7.5. That's what I'm running until I scrounge up enough bucks to buy and built the axle I want.

Thanks for the info, that makes sense. I didn't think my GVWR was that high on this truck. I'll have to check my door jambs and see. Like I said it is the very base model (it was a fleet vehicle at one point), with the only options being AC, Automatic, and the 3.0l, so I wasn't expecting anything other than the bare bone brakes.

Yup. My 99 3.0 auto 2wd has a 7.5 with 10" drums and 3.73d

Thanks for all the responses guys. Thanks for the link Mac! Sorry for the delay; lately I've been thinking of anything but this truck. Needed a little change of scenery! :icon_bounceblue:
