I swapped a buddies 88 7.5 trak loc for my 92 7.5 open. The flanges are different sizes which I didn't realize at the time. The ford dealer told me it was F0TZ-4851-BB but i really have no idea if that is right. Are the pinion flanges the same year to year and are 8.8's the same as 7.5 of the same year? Can anyone tell me which larger 3"sq bolt pattern pinion flange with fit the 7.5?

I don't know what I was thinking, going this route is the best for now, not having to tear apart the companion flange and risk up-setting the axle pinion preload and crushsleeve. Plus if and when I plan to go to a 8.8 I will have the correct yoke flange in my spare parts to mate with the larger bolt pattern. I got a 2000 ranger 1 piece shaft on ebay recently is why I was wondering, originally. Thanks again, for the second opinion and realization of my stupidity. But the way I'm still unsure if the spline end of a 7.5 and 8.8 are the same ????

You mean the splines on the pinion? No, they are different.

yes that is what I meant, ok thanks for the input.
