Hey guys. I have a 2006 ranger with a 7.5 373 limited slip geared rear end that has given up on me. The spider gears are missing many teeth, and has gouged every bearing and clutch in the thing. I have access to a 7.5 373 geared open diff, and was wondering if I could swap the chunk. This is my only transportation, and I desperately need to get this thing back on the road asap. The open diff is in a 98 btw. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Should work. But you need a shim kit to be able to set pinion depth and carrier bearing preload. When you replace the carrier, the tolerances will be different so a full setup should be done.

Thank you Eric, I'm gonna get busy on it now.

This is more of a bandaid for right now. Soon, I plan to have an 8.8 out of a explorer to swap into it.

Should I use my carrier bearing caps, or the ones from the other?

keep the caps with the housing, don't swap bearing caps between housings.
you can swap used bearings so long as the race & bearing go as a set.

Id just swap the whole axle personally. Then you aint gotta worry about dialing things back in.
