my 8.8 ranger with3.73s and trac lock??

so i have i 99 ford explorer that was totalled and i took the engine and tranny and put them in my ranger. now i have the task of removing the 8.8, but its not that simple. the explorer is sitting at my college shop and it cant stay there for ever so i found a broke ass pos 7.5 out of a broken ranger to put in place of the 8.8, and my question is this. will that work out ok? i just need the tires to roll, not drive. i have the housing, axles, and stuff that goes inside the 7.5 but not the cover. is there any problems with doing this just to get it to roll so i can take it to the dump? and also if anyone has tips or hints on removing the 8.8 i am doing it friday at class and would be gratefull for the tips.

***EDIT/done with that new subject down below***

Only problem would be that the Explorer axle mounts above the leaf springs & the Ranger is under springs, but since your just wantin to haul it to the scrap, you can put the axle in basakwards, and it'll roll...........

GOOD LUCK!

got it out. kept the leaf springs and the brake lines and everything so i can now start looking for a locker and welder/welding place so i can flip the spring mounts and weld the tubes in. its going to sit for a while whilst i save up $$$ for a skyjacker class II 6 inch. but its out, its mine, and its in the bed of my dodge for now..

New Question!!!

so my stock 95 ranger xlt has a 8.8 with the 28 spline axles, the tag says its a 3.73 with trac lock. but ive gotten stuck so many times and been in situtions where only one wheel spins.. is there something wrong with my trac lock? what could it be and what should i do cuz it would be nice to have it have trac lock..

The lsd might need rebuilding or adjusting, I think there's a link for the performance mod. in the tech library. Adding the extra clutch disk to the pack makes a huge difference to the performance of the unit. It's not as good as a locker but it does work quite well.
