7.5 dissasemble

I have an 87 ranger v6 4x4 with 7.5 rear, The carrier is shot, ordered new carrier however it looks like I need to nick the ring gear to get the pinion shaft out. I wonder how it was put together?? is there another way to take it apart??

there should be a notch in the cross pin on the other end

thank you, you are soo right, I turned it around and the clip fell in my face!!
