As far as I know there are three choices for 7.5 axle rear cover.

1. Factory plain steel cover.
2. Chromed steel ones from Mr.Gasket (and others).
3. PML products (yourcovers.com) cast aluminum cover.

Did the factory use fiberglass / plastic covers on the 7.5" ???

Any suggestions on what else might be available for a 7.5 diff cover??

yes, an LPW or a TA aluminum cover with carrier bearing support. They are a little more expensive but if you break the caps you are really screwed.

i got my chrome diff cover off of ebay for 1$, my stock fiberglass one was starting to break apart

chrome is real bad for retaining heat. you are better off with a stock steel ,or aluminum. if you do lots of highway driving.
