i have a 94 b4000 that i bought already lifted ,i guess 4in susp lift of unknown orig. now we put on a winch bumper and winch and it is way low in front-can we just put in taller springs in front or what. i thought i saw something about 6in skyjacker coils. i just want to level it out but the winch and bumper are heavy and i bet the springs are old
 
the six inch coils with your 4 inch drop brackets will throw the geometry of the front end way off, making it near imposable to get aligned properly. as for what lift you have from what i saw i believe you have a rough country lift. which has the problematic drop bracket for the pasanger side arm that likes to punch/wear holes in the side of the front dif.
 
Wrong.

6" coils work just fine in a 4.0L truck with 4" drop brackets.

I run my truck in the 4" holes with skyjacker 6" coils, the angles are better than in the 6" holes.
 
but he is also a reg cab...not as much weight. i know my tires were like \---/ when i had the 6 inch coils in my 4 inch holes....only thing different about his truck from mine weight wise is its the 4.0...it cant weigh that much more then the 3.0
 
just saying my experience....his bumper is a clone of mine, and how ever much more the 4.0l weighs then the 3.0, i have added with the weight of my cage. lol but it could work on his truck, wont know tell he trys.
 
the 4.0 does weigh alot more than the 3.0....

again, you can use the 6" coil springs with the 4" lift...its really no different than useing the washers as spacers....

2" of lift over stock as compared to the difference of 4" to 6".....

personally I used the stiffer RC coils for my application ( 4.0 SC with an Extremely heavy bumper/winch combo ) cause of all the weight....

i was reading on another post about bumpstop adjustment? i also saw something about different drop bracket. now i have access to lots of alignment techs and camber adjustment gizmos -that having been said will a "better" drop bracket make it any more alignable .i was just reading about fa600 and some superlift center link .what are some of your opinions on this plan of attack- 6 in coils,fa600 pitman,adj camber/caster bushings and bumpstop adjustment -anyone reading this got any coils laying around -also if you have other plan or idea please jump in
 
The key whether this is going to work or not for the OP depends on the brand of coils. Skyjacker 6" coils WILL work 99.95% of the time, with a 4.0L and winch bumper they should be about perfect.

However, going with another manufacturers coils I cannot say the same, since they are all significantly more stiff than Skyjacker's springs and will not compress as much.

im running a full 6inch skyjacker kit. just saying when i tryed the 4 inch holes, the camber was horrible, and the six inch hole only took one or 2 (depending on the side) washers to get it acceptable.
 
I have a 2.9l Ext. cab with 6" skyjacker coils and the brackets in the 4in. holes. Everything is perfect. aligns easily.
 
All depends on the weight of the truck.

My Ranger (reg cab) has 6" coils and the axle in the 4" holes, and I also have a winch, + dual batteries under the hood. It's almost perfect as far as ride height for the alignment. I don't see an issue with them on the OP's truck (also the weight difference between the various V6 engines is less than between a V6 and the I4, so I wouldn't worry much about that)

And yes, if you have the dreaded drop-plate bracket extension, do make sure your bumpstop is set low enough on that side to stop the axle from hitting it, otherwise you can end up with a busted front diff housing.
 
how is that done and please list any special tools that could make it easier and any reference materials thank you
 
Coils went in today along with some kyb shocks. IT RIDES AWESOME,but I am having alignment issues.LF CAMBER IS OUT .1 deg. (.9 Vs..8) LF caster is in but at 2.8 is ALOT higher than RF at 1.1 ,pulls right in a BIG WAY! How much adjustment can I get from the aftermarket nuts and should we or even can we reduce LF caster to even it out?
 
I wouldn't worry about the camber. I had 1 & 1.2 degree positive camber on both sides for some time until the coils settle in. My skyjacker coils settled 1/4", and my old Tuff country coils settled a whopping 5/8".

.1 degree difference camber between either sides seems like a moot point. Thats hardly anything at all. My experience is that I have the technicians shoot for positive .5 degrees of camber, then I let the coils settle in and then I've always ended up at 0 degrees and never negative. Maybe just a hair positive (.1*) so you are probably set to go. Puts some miles on and see how you end up, go wheelin a few times and really work the coils.

The castor however will need to be evened out though yes as you are experiencing the side effects. Pulling to one side.
