Hey everyone, I have a 1997 ford ranger that is my dd/ weekend project. But here is my new LONG TERM project. I picked up this 1962 scout 80 for free from a buddies field. He had parked it there YEARS ago and forgot about it. I was able to get it home and actually got the engine to turn over after a small amount of tlc. Tranny engages freely, rolls nicely.... Going to be A LOT of work, but it should be fun. Starting the collection process for body panel repair as that is the worst part of the whole rig. Also need to find a door haha.

Even has the \4!

Actually looks pretty solid, floors are common for older trucks.

Any plans in the works?

What an awesome find! Congrats!

Very cool and looks pretty solid too. When I saw the first picture I imaged this... "no its not for sale I'm going to restore it soon"

Glad to see the following images this is not the case..

Congrats. Those are tough trucks. I have some friends with Scout II's. I think they have V8's in theirs. Heavy tough trucks.

Engine is goes vroom?

Thanks, I am super excited about this build. It will be a long term build to be sure!! @85_Ranger4x4, the plans are to collect the sheet metal for the floors and lower sections of the fenders, kick panels, rocker..... needs new gas tanks as they are rotten. I will be pulling the body off to clean the frame and see what else is going on with the drive train. I know the engine turns over and runs, .... rough, but it runs. So if the internals look good I might do a quick gasket and seal job on her and keep it stock. We will see, I have also been toying with the idea of a 4.3 chevy with an nv3500 tranny with disc breaks up front and a soft topper. That is if I go the route to make it more of my daily fun truck... but first and foremost I need to get the body work done and the frame stripped and coated so that it isn't just a pile of rust hahaha.

I will keep you guys updated whenever I get around to working on it. For right now the ranger is my priority as it is my DD and I would like to get it up to par.. will be replacing most of the front suspension and steering components and at the minimum will be leveling the front and eventually lifting it.

Yes, I had to put in new spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points, and feed it some good fuel. But once that was in place, it turned right over and would run as long as I kept the bottle of fuel going to it.
