Specs.

1962 Ford F100 short box styleside
292 Y Block.
2WD 4 Speed on the Floor.
No modifications, and no hacked wireing.

When I turn on my head lights I have no tail lights or front park lights, and no dash lights. The head lights do come on and will dim and brighten with the dimmer switch. I also have no brake lights at any time. All turn lights work front, back and in the dash correctly.

I've checked the fuses on the headlight switch and all are fine.

I replaced the switch with one from my parts truck with the same problems, but I don't know if this switch is good or not.

My first question is do the brake lights go through the headlight switch some how? As it is strange that both went out at the same time.

What can I test with a test light to help me narrow down the problem?

Thanks for the help!

If that wiring in that year is the same as the older and current years then with no dash and tails you should have a bad fuse.

How do you know that you do not have a bad fuse? Was it by looking at it or using a test light on both sides of the fuse while still in the fuse block?

If you have power on both sides of the fuse then I would look for a broken wire after the fuse block.

All the wiring for the lights should go through the turn signal switch not the headlight switch.

It is just the "no front markers" that gets me.

Check the wires coming off the brake switch and see if they are broken or grounding out. The reason your headlights are dim might be because you have a bad ground or a ground fault by the wires shorting out. Check the one wire vs the ones at the tail lights if you have enough wire and alligator clips check continuity between them, or check continuity between the power wire and ground(test for short)

Thanks Explorin94, It was a bad fuse. This is the first time I've had a bad fuse and not visibly able to tell its bad, as it was not burned out. I guess you learn something new every day!

I should have been more clear, the light wiring does not run through the switch but rather the "fuse block" (not sure if that is the proper name) connected directly to the bottom of the switch.

Now I'm missing only the right rear tail light, but I pulled the cover off and I'm fairly sure the socket needs replaced. As the socket is flared out and cracked. The bulb just barly will lock in place. I'm wondering if the previous owner just shoved the bulb strait in with out lining up the pins and spining it into the locked position.

Thanks for the speedy replys!
