Hey all,

Since my truck was written off a few weeks back I have had no luck trying to find a 95' - 97' 4x4 Ranger with enough potential to be my new project truck (Ranger #4). The main reason I was wanting to stick with those 3 years is because from what I can tell those are the only year Rangers that I can buy a 6" Suspension lift for. Is this incorrect?
I don't want anything less than a 6" lift, and I don't want a body lift. Can anyone suggest any other options for me? If I can get a 6" Suspension lift for a newer Ranger then it might open up my options a bit more. Whether it be a BDS, Skyjacker, Superlift (5.5"), or Rough Country... I'm all game.

When I called my local offroad shop they said that Skyjacker is in a little bit of financial trouble and has discontinued a lot of their lift kits.

So if anyone can enlighten me on this please do so. I have seen a few nice 98' and newer Rangers come up for sale but haven't bothered looking because I was told there is no 6" lift kit available for it.

Thanks

No. You are correct.

This is true. On a '98+ pretty much all you can do for 6" is a 4" Superlift and a 2" or 3" bodylift. For bigger tires the '95-'97 front axle is stronger than the '98+ axle.

According to BDS website they have a 6" kit for 83 - 97. Uses 6" coils and 5 1/2" block and AAL.

lifts

eh Gen 4 guys like me can get a 5.5 rcd lift but its pricey if its a project why not find a inexpensive gen 4 01 and up with the sohc and make it a solid axle truck

Yep, any '83-'97 Ranger will use the same suspension kit.

RCD quit making it. Only options are Superlift and Dixon Bros. The Dixon Bros. kit costs even more than RCD's kit did. :icon_surprised:

there is only one more rcd lift left!!!!! my buddy was going to order it for his 2000 ranger but said f^&k it, and is just going to get the super lift one, cheaper and with the 4" lift and 2" torshon keys and 3"body lift should be good for 37s ;)... he's just running 2" torson with add a leaf and a 2" block and 3" body and he is fitting 35x12.5x15s nicely so, 4" more lift should make some 37s look nice!!

James Duff also has a 6" kit. It says 5.5" if x-cab 4.0L. Not on their website but it is in their catalog. You can just buy the front end if you want and do a spring swap or whatever you want for the rear.

There's a guy over at R-F that is making coil over conversions for the Superlift kit. Still cheaper than RCD ever thought of being when in production.

you can get a 6 or 8in from skyjacker or bds from 1983-1997 anything that has a twin i beam will fit.

Skyjacker is in financial trouble??? I'm not sure if I believe it.

That's weird...they just redesigned their extended radius arms for TTB rangers....somebody must be buying the kits to warrant a redesign....

Dany77, stick with the 1993-1997 Rangers and go with a Skyjacker 6" kit or a James Duff 5.5.

EDIT. Opps I guess I just dug up an old thread sowry.
