6.8L engine swap

No kiddin'. I think coworkers have already started to receive their tax returns. Get on with it!

Dude, mine have been submitted, returned, dispersed, and spent for over a month now.

Slight update...wife is preggers so this motor will likely get swapped in, but I doubt it will be running anytime soon. Money will obviously need to go to the new kiddo and some updates to my heep which seats 4 quite a bit better than the ranger. Don't worry this is not abandoned. I will have at bare minimum the motor in the engine bay before the end of summer. After that it is going to be expensive and time consuming...

are you on base in sd? or somewhere else?

Ah, well its been about two years and my project isn't done. Too bad you cant put kids on layaway!

No kidding. Oh well it will get done. I got some more of the old junk removed and started looking into motor mounts.

Going to have to cut the core support out and reweld it in after the motor is swapped.

Checking for clearances. Motor fits with room to spare, this is with the rad in the stock location even. Drivers side motor mount is going to be a fiasco however...

Looks good. Keep it up...

Basic gist of the motor mounts plans. Plate on the block is 3/8th, the pair of ramps is 1/4. I am however out of gas...so tack with flux and purchase some 75/25 monday.

First off I hate flux core, but was out of gas and everything is closed. Penetration is good and I lifted the truck with the mount so I assume its fine. Have to work later today so only got one mount done. Other side will mimic this one.

Lookin good! Why did you go with the stock steering box? Wouldn't a box on the outside of the frame gave you more room?

A local shop did the original build in 2010. When he did the d30 sas back then he went with the larger stouter ford box. It clears the motor so no point in swapping it out.

Oh ok I gotchya.
