I have a 2001 4.0 ranger, I had just replaced the seperator plate with one with bonded gasket. Tranmission was doing fine until yesterday when I kicked it into passing gear to pass a truck, when it was just about to shift back out of passing gear it went neatural. The next mourning when i put it in reverse it tried to back up but was slipping, I put it into drive and it slipped as well until it warmed up then it went in both gears as normal. Could I have blown the seperator gasket when passing? I torqued to spec when i changed it. or could the valve body be warped or something to cause seperator gasket to blow?
