-Summary at bottom.
Doing a frame off rebuild of a 98' 4.0 4X4. I rebuilt the transmission about a year ago and just got to the point in the build of installing it and having the truck be driveable again. I've rebuilt a C6 before and it ran fine so I generally know what I'm doing. Put the tranny in the truck, do a once over of the truck, and fire it up. Sounds great, put it in drive, inches forward with little power and stops. OD and manual 1 and 2 make no difference. Put it reverse, reverse seems to work fine. At this point I stop and go back over in my head anything I might have missed. I realize that I can't remember ever torquing the bands. I crawl under there and torque them both to spec and try again. No gears at all now....??? WTF I made myself forget about it for a week and finally cooled off enough to do a line pressure test today. Pressures at idle were within spec except for D and N which were 10 and 15psi low of spec consecutively. Pressure gauge jumped hard and fast during shifting too so I don't think it's a valve issue. Wide open throttle was a different story. Reverse pressure was great. Anything forward was basically nonexistent. In other words, line pressure barely changes from idle to wide open throttle when in any forward gear. That's basically all the info I have. Please, please help before I take 5gal of diesel and a match to this thing.
-Summary
Fresh rebuilt transmission, weak forward gears, barely moves then stops, OD and manual 1 2 doesn't change it, reverse works fine, remembered to torque bands to spec, now no gears at all, line pressures were good at idle except for D and N being 10 and 15psi low consecutively, wide open throttle reverse pressure was good, wide open throttle pressure barely changes from idle when in any forward gears. FML, please help.
