One of the guy at work (may have) towed a brand new Western Star tri-axle dump truck about 30 miles. He may not have pulled the driveshaft and cooked an Allison 4000 to the point of melting the rear seal and output shaft speed sensor right out of the case. If it did actually happen, which I’m not saying it did, I would have been behind him and radioed to him to pull over when sparks and rollers from the bearing started flying out from under the truck.
If this incident did occur, still not admitting anything here, the truck would have only had about 5,000 miles on it... As luck would have it, the dealer found that the cause of the trans meltdown was that the PTO was loose and it dumped all the trans fluid.
