Hello

I have a 88 B2 with a 5 speed in it. When the cold hit a couple of weeks ago I lost 1,2,5 and reverse. Now that its above freezing it shifts good. Not sure if its a fm145 or fm146. Any ideas? This will be my first 5 speed that I have worked on. Also the clutch might be going if that has anything to do with it.

Hello
i'd check to see what fluid you have in your tranny. the tech library will give you the correct one for your model. good luck to you.

Thats my next move but their is 2 feet of snow around it at the moment. I hope its that simple.

One thing to think on FM146 use GEAR OIL,(80-90),mazdas use tranny FLUID,(Dextron),... If like me you have a FM146 and someone has put auto tranny fluid in it,it will lock up ! Listen even Ford factory macks screw that one up! How to un lock? Remove boot cover AND top plate on tranny. Now if truck is in true neutral you should be able to move the shifter around as if it is in well .....neutral and you should see a rectangular box,i....f not ,one half will be higher than the other,..if so take a long screw driver and make both u-channels back into a rectangle,...hopefully you can see what I'm talking about .You want this [ ] as opossed to what i Think you have which is this [ Game time will return.

Could not get the representation to illustrate correctly .When you take that cover off you will see what I mean

You are probably just low on tranny fluid. Fill it till fluid pours out the fill hole. Also autozone sells a pump that will make refilling your fluid so much easier. Costs around 5 dollars.

a 1988 Bronco2 will NOT be an FM145

It is probably an FM146.

It COULD BE a Mazda M5OD-R1

Hello

Its suppose to be +5c tomorrow so i will take a look and see what it is. I also have to fix the flood inside since it had 2 feet of snow on it and the sun roof leaked. It was install with the opening too big and will not seal.
