hello all,
i have been lurking here for awhile, lots of good info!!! i have a question about the trans in my 97 XLT 4.0 super cab. in 3rd on up it is starting to sound very noisey kinda like a growl. i purchased the truck last year and have basicly been replacing parts in priority order to date i have
1. replaced the whole front end (ball joints axle joints inner/outter tie rods and manual hubs) the clutch is good as the paper in the glove box states the p.o had it done 9 months before i brought it. the truck has 181000 on the clock and runs like a champ but the trans noise is absolutley somthing new. i am going to change the fluid out since i suspect it has never been done(based on the other things i found) is there somthing i should be looking for or do you guys recommend a certain type of fluid/ (outside of the factory spec) thanks.
