so here goes... i have a 94 4cyl manual 2wd reg cab 140k miles ranger. i loaded my truck with firewood (not too much but a nice load) and drove home fine about a half hour ride. went to back into my driveway and when i put it in gear it ground into reverse but popped in...wtf. so i reverse no problem unload the wood and went into 1st gear no problem and stayed in 1st till i get to my spot. when i got to my spot i checked to see if it would grind into reverse again and it did. i tried 3 times all the same then tried to move forward and do it again and it wouldnt go into 1st 2nd 3rd didnt try 4th or 5th. so i shut it off thinking my trans is shot and came out about 4 hours later to mess with it... its fine. drive to work the next day no problem the next day i get some more wood but about 1/3 load just a few pieces maybe 300lbs. drive home fine and get the same problem when i reverse. i unload my firewood and the same thing. wont go into any gear and grinds into reverse. i did the clutch about a 15000 miles ago, new clutch, throwout bearing, resurfaced flywheel and changed the clutch and trans fluid, bled the slave cylinder, no problems since. i re bled the slave cyl and checked the trans fluid but im not going to get more wood and try to recreate the problem. so my question is, is the trans toast like a bad synchro or could it be something else. i drove to work today no problem but i dont want this truck to leave me somewhere so if my trans is on its way out i want to replace it. i never loaded my truck like i did the first time, so this was the first really heavy load i ever had in it. usually its just a daily driver
