I'd like to add the a/c back to my vehicle. Upper intake is slightly too wide to use as is.

What effect would it have if I have the intake "narrowed" a few inches and weld a new end-plate back on? It would still be functional, just not sure what it would do to performance.

Anyone else with an 85-87 Ranger/BII run into this problem? What changes did you make to get your a/c working with a V8 swap?

Thanks!

Mark

You could look for a "fabricated sheetmetal" intake, or one of the several "box" style intakes from various manufacturers.. Lots to choose from, but some styles may be hard to locate due to rarity.

If the throttle body is pointed to the driver's side you can simply turn it around and use the elbow from an explorer

Sounds like a simple fix. I just purchased an elbow to use and am also trying to get the 96 Explorer upper/lower intake.

cut and fab a L shaped plate on thedriver side part of the ac box.. for additional room.

make sure you leave 1/2 inch gap around evap....

the cover can be trimmed for more room.

Upper intake can be installed either way. Just aim it in the direction that makes the most room for what you need to do.

Thanks to all of you who've offered suggestions. I have a bit of work to do to make this happen but will take pics and document for others in the same situation.

Any suggestions on a good picture hosting service?

Thanks.

I have had good luck with Flickr. Others have had good luck with imagur (or some variation of that spelling)
